October Recap, November Goals

Greetings, lovelies!
I can’t say that October was a particularly productive month for me. I was definitely rocking the chill vibe for most of it. But Nanowrimo is around the corner, so I’ll have a chance to make up for it.

Writing Recap

  • My critique group finished the draft of Selected, so we had a nice long conversation about that. As always, they had some great suggestions for how to tighten the plot , and they illuminated some truly embarrassing plot holes.
  • I didn’t get too far into the rewrite, but I condensed my notes into a single list of revision points and I put my post it notes back up on the wall.

Non-Writing Recap

  • With movie theaters back open, I’ve been seeing as many movies as I can. A non-exhaustive list: Kid Detective, Tenet, The War with Grandpa, How to Train your Dragon, Hocus Pocus, Infidel, and Broken Hearts Gallery.
  • Halloweeeeeen! If you’ve been hanging around for a while, you know this is my favorite holiday, so I’m enjoying all of the spooky goodness.
  • I’m nearly finished putting my garden to rest for the winter. I had so much fun with that, and I already have a notebook of plans for next year.

November Goals

  • Nanowrimo! I’m not participating in the traditional sense this year since I’m in editing mode instead of drafting, but I will gladly join my writing family in setting some ambitious goals. I’m going to try to write for 200 hours in November. (I normally write 8 hours a day for 3 days on, 1 day off, so this goal will have me writing 24 hours over my usual.)
  • I would like to get this next round of editing done for Selected by the end of the month. So hopefully after this, the bones of the plot will be firmly in place and I can start focusing on characters and worldbuilding.

Feel free to drop your own October accomplishments in the comments so I can celebrate you! Or your November goals so I can encourage you!
